Rick Ross Covers October’s Issue Of XXL Alongside His Maybach Music Team
Call him a Police Officer, call him fake, hell, call him whatever you want to call him, but at least respect him. The Florida-born rapper, Rick Ross, blew up the hip-hop scene back in 2006 when his highly anticipated album “Port of Miami” took the world by storm. After releasing his second album “Trilla” back in ’08, a photo surfaced of the big-bellied rude boy in a Correctional Officer’s uniform (he denied it was him at first) in which he worked as during the early 90′s. Many thought that would end his career, but it might have been the best thing to happen to him.
After becoming arguably the hottest rapper in the game right now (easily my favorite rapper of all-time), how does one outdo himself? He goes out and starts his own team. Maybach Music Group, which features artists Wale (formerly with Interscope), Atlanta Trap Rapper Pill and Philadelphia street rider Meek Mill, not only have they taken the hip-hop game by storm during the second half of the year, they’re probably the best and most versatile group in rap. Lets not forget that he already has his “Go Hard” group Triple C’s (Gunplay, Torch and Young Breed). As the saying goes, give respect when it’s do. Hip-Hop magazine XXL decided to make a two issue series, one featuring The Boss by himself and the other featuring the whole crew. Like I said, whether you like him or not he’s here to stay.
“I’m self-made, you just affiliated.”

Big Sean x Cam’Ron x Vado Performances At The XXL Freshmen 10 Concert

Last night, XXL Magazine hosted their Freshmen 10 Concert that featured performances from Big Sean, Nipsey Hussle, Jay Rock, Pill, Freddie Gibbs, and Donnis. Big Sean is the only other freshmen from this year’s class besides J. Cole (who had his own show the night before) that I think will be relevant in a year from today. Above, the kid from Detroit premiered a new song called Fuck You Doin (Bullshit) and after the jump is a clip of him performing Supa Dupa Lemonade. As surprise guests, Cam’Ron and Vado came through and performed Stop It 5 and Ric Flair. It’s kinda ironic that Vado was left off of this year’s list but still performed at the show and arguably had the best set. Shouts to See Life Like Me and RR for the footage.

What better way to get to know the 2010 freshmen hip hop class than at a live concert? DJ Envy will be hosting the event that’s going down on Wednesday March 31st at 9PM at New York City’s The Highline Ballroom. Nipsey Hussle, Pill, Jay Rock, Donnis, Big Sean, and Freddie Gibbs are already scheduled to perform but don’t be surprised if any of the other four freshmen make a surprise appearance.
