ESPN Releases Preseason NCAA Basketball Top 25 Rankings

ESPN / USA Today released their first preseason NCAA Basketball top 25 rankings and the Kansas Jayhawks came in at #1, Michigan State at #2, Texas at #3, UNC at #4, and Kentucky at #5.  I think Kansas and Michigan State will be battling for that #1 spot all year long, UNC got ranked a little too high, and Kentucky is going to be a problem with their stacked freshmen class.  Besides the obvious big name top 25 teams, Butler is going to be a huge sleeper – remember the names Gordon Hayward and Shelvin Mack.  The full 25 is listed below:

  1. Kansas
  2. Michigan State
  3. Texas
  4. North Carolina
  5. Kentucky
  6. Villanova
  7. Purdue
  8. Duke
  9. West Virginia
  10. Butler
  11. Tennessee
  12. California
  13. Washington
  14. Connecticut
  15. Michigan
  16. Oklahoma
  17. Ohio State
  18. Minnesota
  19. Mississippi State
  20. Georgia Tech
  21. Georgetown
  22. Dayton
