Chandler Parsons’ Big Slam On Gary Neal

January 12, 2012 by

After J.R. Smith did this to Gary Neal, I thought dude would retire. Turns out he didn’t. In fact, after what former Florida Gator and 2nd round pick Chandler Parsons did to him during Wednesday’s game between the Spurs and Rockets, he just might consider doing so.

The Official 2011 NBA Playoffs Schedule

40 games in 40 nights! Let’s get it! It’s NBA Playoffs time – 2011 version. This photo was surfacing around the office inbox’s and I actually thought it was funny even as a Celtics fan myself. What’s even funnier though is that these Knicks’ fans think they can actually hang with the Celtics. New York doesn’t play a lick of defense so it’ll be an easy series in 5 games, maybe 6 if we’re playing sloppy.

Derrick Rose and the Bulls will breeze through the Pacers, same with the Heat and the 76ers. The Magic will see some resistance from the Hawks but they’ll be okay too. After that though, there’s no calling it. All four teams are talented and I haven’t been this excited to see how everything plays out. There’s no clear cut front runner and every team could make a run to the championship.

On the west side (*throws up Avon Barksdale W*), I’m kinda shocked that the Nuggets have managed to do so well with out Melo and Billups and even with so many injuries in the beginning of the year. To come out of the west though I’m going to roll with young Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook to take their games to another level.  Playoffs START NOW!

Eastern Conference

(8) Indiana Pacers (37-45) vs. (1) Chicago Bulls (62-20)
(7) Philadelphia 76ers (41-41) vs. (2) Miami Heat (58-24)
(6) New York Knicks (42-40) vs. (3) Boston Celtics (56-26)
(5) Atlanta Hawks (44-38) vs. (4) Orlando Magic (52-30)

Western Conference

(8) Memphis Grizzlies (46-36) vs. (1) San Antonio Spurs (61-21)
(7) New Orleans Hornets (46-36) vs. (2) Los Angeles Lakers (57-25)
(6) Portland Trailblazers (48-34) vs. (3) Dallas Mavericks (57-25)
(5) Denver Nuggets (50-32) vs. (4) Oklahoma City Thunder (55-27)

Ouch, Someone Call Kobe Bryant’s PR Team

Years after Kobe Bryant’s public relations team worked magic and brought his career back to everyone-loves-him-superstar-status after the Colorado “incident,” here is again in need of some magical PR.  After getting called for a technical foul last night, The Black Mamba was seen on the bench mouthing “fucking faggot” to the ref that called the foul after him. In real life and on the basketball court, this type of language happens all the time and most people don’t care. Me personally, I don’t really care but when you’re the NBA and one of your top marketable players gets caught on live TV saying that, you have to take action and the NBA did so. David Stern immediately fined Kobe $100,000 for the gay slur and released the following statement:

“While I’m fully aware that basketball is an emotional game, such a distasteful term should never be tolerated,” he said. “Accordingly, I have fined Kobe $100,000. Kobe and everyone associated with the NBA know that insensitive or derogatory comments are not acceptable and have no place in our game or society.”

Kobe is planning to appeal the fine but with the Human Rights Campaign people all over Stern to enforce his fine, I don’t see it being appealed. Besides, Kobe has more important things to worry about like Andrew Bynum having knees weaker than a crackhouse whore and him missing the playoffs and his team’s recent struggles.  Back to the subject, hit the jump to read Kobe’s public apology.

Tyreke Evans & Blake Griffin Get Their Dunks On

Poor Gary Neal of the San Antonio Spurs.  The only time I ever hear his name or make a post on him is when he’s getting dunked on.  J.R. Smith already gave him a Dunk of The Year candidate earlier this season and then last night Tyreke Evans gave him the business.  Also getting his dunk on in Oklahoma City was none other than Blake Griffin who let Nick Collison know that he can’t hang in the air with young Blake.

J.R. Smith Does A 360 Layup Around Tim Duncan

Sorry Timmy D, J.R. Smith just spun circles around you!  I swear this dude J.R. Smith will never be a GM or Coach’s favorite player but he’ll always be a fan favorite if he keeps making highlights like these.

J.R. Smith Takes Flight Over Gary Neal Right Before The Buzzer

I don’t know what’s gotten into players this year but I like it. Every week I feel like I’m saying “Damn, that might be the dunk of the year.” We haven’t seen much from J.R. Smith this year but everybody will see this. Smith casually dribbles the ball to the 3 point line, then crosses up Ime Udoka and takes off a couple of steps past the free throw line to throw it down over Gary Neal with 2 hands. And check out the look on Melo’s face. Looks like he’s contemplating staying in Denver for a second…nah.

Eva Longoria Files For Divorce

Eva Longoria has filed for divorce from San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker on Wednesday. There are reports of infidelity by Parker and rumors are swirling around that it was with former teammate and current ESPN analyst Brent Barry’s wife, Erin. Eva’s good friend, Mario Lopez, reported that hundreds of texts were found on Tony’s phone from a mutual female friend. Sports Illustrated writer, Byran Armen Graham, is the one who broke the news that the texts were from Erin Barry. Longoria broke her silence Wednesday night by tweeting the following statement,

“It is with great sadness that after 7 years together, Tony and I have decided to divorce. We love each other deeply and pray for each other’s happiness.”

Unfortunately for Tony and Eva, you know they will get no privacy from the media, but that is the price of fame.

Eric Gordon’s Monster Slam On The Spurs

Surprisingly we have a highlight dunk from the Clippers game that ISN’T Blake Griffin. Eric Gordon slams this one down over Spurs rookie James Anderson. I love the reaction by the announcer who cuts off the sideline reporter for his ‘OHHH MEE OH MYYY” and also check out DeAndre Jordan at the 0:18 second mark say “OHHH SHITTT” and run to watch a replay. This dunk is gonna go down as one of the best this season for sure!  If that dunk didn’t get you hype, Eric Gordon caught Tim Duncan playing a step too slow and put him on a poster…

Even though we’re in the middle of the World Cup frenzy, I’m sure Nash will have some surprises in store for the fans.  At least three NBA ballers are already confirmed to play – Brandon Jennings (Milwaukee Bucks), Tony Parker (San Antonio Spurs), and Jared Dudley (Phoenix Suns).  I’m sure other players will be rolling through too since the NBA Draft is this Thursday.  I’ll definitely be rolling through to take in the action so say what up if you see me.  It’s going down at Nike Football x Sara D Roosevelt Park on Houston Street (in between Chrystie and Stanton street).

NBA stars.  Soccer’s best.  An urban field.  A sweet 8-a-side game of futbol in the middle of a city benefiting children’s programs on three continents.

Even if you’re not a fan of Manu Ginobili or the San Antonio Spurs, you have to admit his one-handed floater from beyond the 3-point line last night was sick!
