Nike Unveils Their New Nike+ Fuelband

What has all the Nike #MakeItCount buzz been building up to? Well it’s finally here. Nike officially debuted their new Nike+ Fuelband which is designed to measure your daily activity and turn it all into NikeFuel. The $150 bracelet uses a built-in three-axis accelerometer to track the time, your daily steps, calories expended, and NikeFuel — a normalized score based on oxygen kinetics that awards points equally regardless of physical makeup. You can track your activity using the Nike+ website by syncing over USB, or hook up with your smartphone over Bluetooth and suck data into an app on your iPhone. The Integrated LEDs in the wristband keep you informed of your current status and give you an easy red-to-green goal indicator.

Cliff notes: the wristband measures EVERYTHING you do. #MakeItCount. Life is a sport. Check out their cool promo video below and then hit the jump to catch some of their other new ones as well.

Tinker Hatfield Does Not #FuckWithLeBronSneakers

April 10, 2011 by
Filed under Fashion, Kicks, NBA, Sports

Those who follow sneakers (specifically Nikes and Jordans) should know the name Tinker Hatfield. For those who don’t, his legendary resume includes designing the Air Jordan III through Air Jordan XV, the twentieth anniversary Air Jordan XX, the final numbered Air Jordan, the XXIII, the 2010 (XXV), and other athletic sneakers including the world’s first “cross training” shoes, the Nike Air Trainer and is currently oversees Nike’s “Innovation Kitchen” department. He recently got recorded at a Q&A session in Miami expressing his feelings on why he doesn’t like to work with LeBron James in designing the Nike Air Max LeBron series sneakers.  The main reason – LeBron’s entourage that includes “too many people, too many ideas, too many opinions”. On the contrary, he LOVES working with Kobe Bryant and Carmelo Anthony in creating ideas for designing their signature sneakers as they come in with only 1 other business partner and get straight to business. It sounds like LeBron is getting more hated by more and more people every. single. day.

“Shoebox, No Shoes In Them” – Save Your Cash, Nike’s Raising Prices

March 22, 2011 by

In less important news, Nike is raising prices across the board due to the rising cost of cotton, oil, and transportation which is squeezing their profit margin.  AKA not good news for us regular folks who wear adore Nike like we’ll adore our first born kids (that might have to be past tense for some of you).  Hopefully the price’s don’t rise too much because that just means the resellers are just going to even go harder and higher on their prices than before.  Time to start saving up that cash in those shoeboxes!

Jordan Brand x Michael Jordan x BHM is above and then Nike Basketball x Kobe Bryant x BHM and Converse x Julius Erving x BHM are after the jump.

With the 35th anniversary of Black History Month coming to an official close on Monday, Nike, Jordan Brand and Converse are taking the opportunity to recognize the basketball pioneers that they have been honoring all month with the launch of a three-part video series titled, “Ever Higher.” In the series, they discuss the greatness of their three pioneers — Julius Erving, Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant — with a handful of sports and cultural influencers including Bun B, Mick Boogie, Julius Erving III, Freddie Gibbs… and Dime’s own Aron Phillips.

Another LeBron Spoof: Maybe It’s MJ’s Fault

November 26, 2010 by

This is my favorite spoof of LeBron’s new Nike commercial and it’s not a comedy, it’s the truth. Obviously MJ had nothing to do with the making of this, but if or when he sees it I’m sure he’ll just give a Kanye shrug

Preview: Nike’s 2012 NFL Pro Combat Jersey

This photo leaked yesterday and rumors are these will be the Patriots uniforms for 2012. I am not sure how true this is because Reebok has the exclusive manufacturing rights for NFL apparel until 2012 and I couldn’t find anything official from the NFL stating that Nike would take over.  Personally, I don’t like the Nike one.

**UPDATE** Nike will take over the NFL Apparel contract once it runs out with Reebok in April 2012.  Huge hit for Reebok, whose current deal is 10 years for $250 million. It is speculated that the Nike deal is 5 years for $175 million ($35 million per year) . The jersey shown is just a proposal dubbed “Pro Combat Jersey”, but nothing has been approved yet (thank god!).

NIKE: BOOM Commercials

Here is a new Nike ad campaign called ‘BOOM’ which features several athletes and for some reason Mr. Rick Rozay. Pretty random if you ask me, as when I think Nike Athletics, Rick Ross isn’t the first image that pops into my head. Either way, that new chain of his is hilarious. Check out a couple other ads after the jump starring Ndamukong Suh, Tim Tebow, Robinson Cano, Coach Nick Saban, and some others.
