NFL: Adrian Peterson Reaches 7-Year, $100 Million Extension With The Vikings

Viking’ fans knew it was coming, they just didn’t know exactly when. Not too long after Chris Johnson signed his six-year extension with the Titans, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter announced today that Minnesota’s mammoth with cleats, Adrian Peterson, reached a seven-year extension worth $100 million. The contract is said to include $36 million in guaranteed money and worth $40 million over the first three years. Peterson is in the final year of his rookie contract and was due for a big day after the numbers he’s put up the last four years.

He was the NFL’s Rookie of the Year in ’07, a 4X All-Pro Running Back, set an NFL record with the most rushing yards in a game with 296 and the most rushing yards through the first eight games of a season with 1,036. Many have said that they believe AP has reached his peak and expect him too decline this season, but in fact he just entered his prime years (26) and still has a good three, maybe four years left with his running style.

The Vikings are set to take on the Charges this Sunday in San Diego.

Video: Minnesota Viking’s Metrodome Roof Collapsing

As most of you may have heard, the Giants @ Vikings game scheduled for Sunday has been postponed to Monday night. First it was due to severe snow storms which caused the Giants to not be able to travel, then the snow on the roof of the Metrodome caused the roof to cave in. Pretty intense video, and good thing nobody was inside/on the field because that would have sucked to be in the middle of. The game will be played Monday Night at Ford Field in Detroit and Brett Favre will get another day to make sure he’s still alive…

Brett Favre’s 500th Career Touchdown Pass

In between going through an erotic picture message scandal and throwing the game losing interception against the New York Jets, Brett Favre still managed to throw his 500th career touchdown pass to none other than Randy Moss.  As a huge Moss fan growing up, it’s good to see Moss back in that #84 in the purple and gold and hopefully Favre and Moss can continue to click as the season progresses.

If you were stuck in an office and couldn’t watch Brett Favre’s un-retirement press conference on ESPN, here it is.  I will not be surprised if I’m posting a press conference a year from now with Favre making the same statements.

A free Jared Allen iPhone app?  Sure, why not…

The Jared Allen Official App – now available for FREE for your iPhone and/or iPod Touch*

This is my official iPhone app that took Rock Software forever to make but it actually looks worth the wait. My app contains everything that I think you need to help you understand how to live the best life (my life):

. History of all American flags. There’s been more than one flag, so be a real American and learn all of them.

. Mullet Generator – if you’re not cool enough to have a real one, add one to your own pic and send it off to all your friends. You’ll get the idea of how cool you can really look.

. Pictures of me hunting and playing football (body slamming quarterbacks).

. Pictures of the mullet militia – if you have a sweet picture of yourself rocking a mullet – email it to jared@rocksoftware.com and if it’s cool enough – I’ll make sure to put it on the app.

. Ask me questions and I’ll try to get back to you – just make sure they aren’t dumb.

. Twitter app to use to tweet. I don’t know what this means but Rock Software said it would cool. I don’t use tweeter yet.

. The Lodge info – check out my restaurant when you’re in Arizona. The Bleu Cheese & Bacon burger is the BOMB!!

. Check out my favorite songs and apps. Real music right there.

. Tips for you amateur hunters.

. Sound bites that you can ONLY use to crank call or if you’re at the library.

. I got some other stuff on here too for you to check out, including videos and our football schedule w/ scores and all that stuff.

It’s clear that Brett Favre is the best option at quarterback next year for the Minnesota Vikings and their fans know it.  They were a game away from reaching the Super Bowl, and their fans have dedicated a 2nd billboard in Minnesota to convince Brett to stay for one more season.  Hit the jump for a third billboard that is dedicated to Brett’s backup, Tarvaris Jackson.  Shouts to Jersey Chaser.

It looks like some 80,000+ Minnesota Vikings came together on a Facebook group and threw their money together to purchase this billboard in support of the idea of Brett Favre returning for next season.  I think Favre has at least one (maybe two) year’s left in his tank.  Shouts to JerseyChaser for the find.
