Video: Kevin Durant’s Buzzer-Beater Against Dallas
A lot of the ESPN writers voted for either Chris Paul or LeBron James (what else is new?) to be named the league MVP this season. I chose Kevin Durant and I’m sticking to it. Yes, we’re only 4 games into the season and Durant’s averaging 31 points per game and shooting 56 percent from the field (which I’m sure will drop at some point), but now is his time.
In a 48-minute shootout tonight against Dallas and with 1.4 seconds on the clock, down by 1 after Vince Carter hit a go-ahead 3 pointer to give the Mavericks a 102-101 lead, the entire arena knows the ball is going to Durant, and with good reason. Given a great pick set by James Harden to free Durant from Shawn Marion, it gave KD just enough time (.2 seconds) to put the nail in the coffin. Best shot of the season thus far? I think so.

The Nike Design team is really going hard at creating outside of the box colorways for Kevin Durant’s new signature kicks, the Nike Zoom KD IV. You saw KD unveil the “Nerf” editions a few weeks back, now check out this new “Weatherman” edition. The inspiration for this design is simple, KD wanted to be a weatherman when he was growing up. The shoe includes a cool graphic that is resembled after a weatherman’s Doppler radar. Hit the jump for more images.
“I always wanted to be a weatherman when I was growing up. I like natural disasters, so they made a very nice shoe around that theme.” – Kevin Durant

Through the awesome social network Twitter, a lucky group of college kids from Oklahoma State got to have Kevin Durant play quarterback and safety on their flag football team. Watch as the student tells his story of jokingly reaching out to KD on Twitter and then having the 6’10″ All-World Forward roll up to his crib in his van and grabbing the team and driving them to the field. LOL @ the other team’s quarterback throwing a corner endzone toss up and KD picking it off without even jumping!

As Kobe Bryant’s career begins to get older and less appealing to the younger generation, Nike Basketball is turning to Kevin Durant to play second fiddle in their grand marketing schemes behind LeBron James. What better way to reach the youth demographic then by creating a limited edition Nerf colorway to KD’s new Nike Zoom KD IV’s?! Durant rocked these during last week’s Oklahoma City charity basketball game. The package is even awesome as it comes in a custom box complete with a mini-hoop and a Nerf KD35 ball. No information is out on the pair’s actual release but hit the jump for more photos.

LeBron James & John Wall Go HAM At Chris Paul’s Charity Game

HoopMixtape is having one hell of a run with all these All-Star Game highlight videos all courtesy of David Stern, the NBA Owners, and the NBA Lockout. After Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony and other NBA superstars attended a NBA Players Union / Owners meeting in New York City on Friday, they split to North Carolina for CP3′s Charity All-Star Game. Kevin Durant ended up being the game’s leading scorer with 48 (and an impressive threw the legs dunk) but LeBron and John Wall stole the show with their array of high flying crams. LeBron’s dunks aren’t that impressive in the style category but he just gets so high and throws them down with so much power that they become pretty jaw dropping. Style wise though, John Wall killed it. That off the wall-windmill on one take?!?! Game over…
