Jay-Z Collects A Chrysler Check For “Heart of The City”

As Hova’s collaboration project Watch The Throne officially went platinum today, Mr. Carter also received a nice little paycheck from Chrysler for the usage of his song Heart of The City. The song carries the tune for this new Chrysler video. The song’s about ten years old now as it appeared on Jay-Z’s original Blueprint album that released on the infamous September 11, 2001. As long as Hov keeps collecting these big corporate checks, he’ll continue to be able to collect those big nice watches…
J.Cole Tried To Get Nas For “Cole World: The Sideline Story”
September 14, 2011 by AndyMac

J.Cole – arguably the hottest up and coming rapper in the game right now – plans on releasing his first studio album labeled “Cole World: The Sideline Story” on September 27, which seems like it could become a trilogy type album within the next four or five years. As most know, Cole is signed to Roc Nation, which just so happens to be owned by Jay-Z, who finally gave Cole his wish and dropped the homie a verse on a track called “Mr. Gold Watch” which plans on dropping today. In a recent interview with Vibe Magazine, Cole also presented HOV with another track called “God’s Gift,” which Jay couldn’t do because of his schedule.
Since Cole couldn’t land the hip-hop King of Gotham City, he wanted to throw Nas on their last minute.
Yeah, I was trying to do a last minute Nas thing but I couldn’t. I didn’t have enough time, and then I laid a new verse on the slot I saved for Jay but I ended up not liking it. So I ended up keeping it two verses. It’s cool, it still worked out.”
Nas and Jay-Z had one of the greatest (behind Biggie and Pac) hip-hop rivalries of all-time. HOV was reportedly sleeping around with Nas’ girl and so they went back and forth with diss tracks where Nas dropped the best diss track ever produced called “Ether.” I don’t know about y’all, but I think it would have been dope if Cole could have landed Nas for this album. Unfortunately, at least this time around, we won’t be able to witness such a thing. But who knows?
This is only the Sideline Story ..
Video: State Farm’s 9/11 x Empire State of Mind Tribute

If you watched ANY of Sunday’s NFL games then you definitely saw this new State Farm commercial at least once. Being that it was also the 10th anniversary of 9/11, this video definitely touched home to a lot of people. Spike Lee directed the campaign and obviously the hook was taken from Alicia Keys and Jay-Z’s Empire State of Mind. Props to State Farm, Spike Lee, and the creative agency for creating a moving yet classic ad!

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11, State Farm partnered with award-winning director Spike Lee to film a touching tribute to thank the heroes of New York. Nearly 150 school children (ages 8-11) from the New York City area visited four firehouses and thanked the firefighters through song.

436,078 people bought the digital or physical version of Watch The Throne in the first week. A million in 3 weeks is easily doable for Mr. Jay-Z and Kanye West. Did you Watch? I did and it’s great! Not classic but a solid 4 out of 5 stars.

This Is How Jay-Z Celebrated #WTT In Miami’s LIV Club
August 16, 2011 by The Scheme King

No Kanye West (he was performing with The Artist Formerly Known As Prince in Europe) but Jay-Z celebrated with his A-list friends last night, the release of Watch The Throne inside Miami’s LIV nightclub. It looks like Hov broke the LIV bottle record as he ordered $250,000 worth of drank. The previous record holder? None other than Mark Cuban who rolled through with his NBA Champion Dallas Mavericks and Lil Wayne and his Young Money entourage. Supposedly general admission to the club was $500 for men and $250 for women. That shit cray!!!
