Chandler Parsons’ Big Slam On Gary Neal
After J.R. Smith did this to Gary Neal, I thought dude would retire. Turns out he didn’t. In fact, after what former Florida Gator and 2nd round pick Chandler Parsons did to him during Wednesday’s game between the Spurs and Rockets, he just might consider doing so.
Sources: Nene Agrees To 5-Year Deal With Denver
Pheeeeeeew! Damn, we need this! In all honesty, I didn’t think Nene was going to comeback. I thought he was fed-up with the way Denver has been handling his contract extension since last year and he was looking to play for a contender. Well, Nene’s loyalty kicked in. According to ESPN’s Marc Stein via his Twitter account, the Nuggets big man agreed to sign a 5-year extension worth an excess of $67 million, which is an average of $13.5 million a year over the course of the next five seasons.
I knew that Nene was more comfortable being in Denver, he’s been here his entire career. His wife is from the area, he nursed through his knee injury back in the ’05-06 season in Denver, and he’s also fought testicular cancer three years ago in Denver. Like the old saying goes: “If you take care of your people, your people will take care of you.” Without the big man in the middle, Denver lacks serious toughness and offensive scoring from the 5. With his season average last year of 14.5 points per game, 7.6 rebounds and a league-leading 61.5 percent from the field, Nene deserved an extension. But this year he has to be tougher and aggressive every game, not just here and there. I expect him to put at least 17 and 12 this year because without Carmelo, Kenyon, Chauncey, J.R. Smith and Wilson Chandler, you better believe George Karl is going to feed him more often.
Denver also acquired swingmen Rudy Fernandez and Corey Brewer from the Dallas Mavericks for a future second-round pick to add much-needed depth due to the departures of J.R. Smith, Kenyon Martin and Wilson Chandler, who are now playing overseas in China and won’t be available to the league until March (unless their contracts are worked out).
Derrick Rose’ Shows Off New Ink
The reigning MVP and the supposed new “Michael Jordan Era” in Chicago, the Bulls Derrick Rose has taken the world by storm. The fans want more, the city wants more, but the only thing stopping them from seeing more Rose is the lockout. For those who already know, D-Rose has some tats. He’s not a J.R. Smith by any means but slowly, and surely, they’re starting to build up.
In his new Adidas commerical to promote his second shoe — the adiZero Rose 2 — Rose breaks off a Matador in what seems to be a Colosseum, and right when he busts through the red cape, there are his new shoulder tats in plain sight. Despite them being somewhat hidden beneath his sponsored beater, on the left side is says “19″ and the other says “88,” which is obviously his birth year. I don’t know about y’all, but I think it’s pretty dope. It’s a lot different than most tattoos and I don’t think any other player has those — or the room — yet.
What do you guys think?
Report: J.R. Smith Signs One-Year Deal With China
As a huge Nugget’ fan, this is starting to get hard to swallow. First we lose one of our starters for the 2011-12 season (if there even will be one) in Wilson Chandler, and now it’s being reported that J.R. Smith has signed to play overseas in China as well. According to Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski, Smith has signed a one-year deal with Zhejiang Wanma of China Basketball Association. As the deal goes with Chandler, the CBA has a no opt-out clause which means both Smith and Chandler have to play the entire year overseas before they can make their way back into the NBA.
Smith – who has been known as an enigma and a pain in George Karl’s ass – is one of the league’s most hot and cold players. One game he’s going off like Jordan in Game 6, and the next he’s colder than Adam Morrison’s shooting hand. Despite all of that, he’s still one of the most potent scorers in the league off the bench and still makes Denver better with him on the court. It’s obvious that some guys who have big contracts (i.e. LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant) are sitting comfortably and enjoying their time by playing pickup ball during the lockout, there are still some guys who are looking to make money while there’s money to be made, and one of those guys is Smith.
He needs to make as much money as he can right now because it’s evident that teams will be going after Chandler when he makes his return to the NBA next season but it’s hard to picture which teams will be jumping the gun for J.R.’s mishaps and inconsistency.

Yo Kris, you’re supposed to be giving your pornstar reality star chick facials, not taking them! Below and after the jump is J.R. Smith just doing his weekly Sportscenter Top 10 highlights. Thank you Blake Griffin and J.R. Smith for bringing me (at least) once-a-week NBA highlights. I bet most of you thought Darko Milicic was out of the league by now. Nope, he’s still getting jammed on playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves but is having career best numbers of 8.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.50 blocks a game.

Classic stuff right here from the boys in blue, yellow, and white! They must have been listening to our Throwback Saturday’s! Carmelo Anthony and J.R. Smith have the swag of a rapper, Ty Lawson has the swag of a DJ, but Chauncey Billups, Birdman, Al Harrington, Shelden Williams, Nene, and Anthony Carter have little to no swag.

J.R. Smith Takes Flight Over Gary Neal Right Before The Buzzer

I don’t know what’s gotten into players this year but I like it. Every week I feel like I’m saying “Damn, that might be the dunk of the year.” We haven’t seen much from J.R. Smith this year but everybody will see this. Smith casually dribbles the ball to the 3 point line, then crosses up Ime Udoka and takes off a couple of steps past the free throw line to throw it down over Gary Neal with 2 hands. And check out the look on Melo’s face. Looks like he’s contemplating staying in Denver for a second…nah.
