Is J. Cole the realest rapper of all-time? I’d bet money on it. After releasing his freshman album back in September, Cole World: The Sideline Story, Cole has been relatively quiet for the time being until he dropped the video for the track “Lost Ones” Tuesday night. Want to know how real Jermaine is? He shot this video 3 years ago before he was even signed!

Drake Explains The Cover Of His “Take Care” Album

I don’t know about y’all, but after Drake decided to display the cover for his album “Take Care,” which is set to drop Nov. 15, I wasn’t exactly sure what to make of it. I was confused. Luckily for us fans and critics who were left scratching our heard, Drizzy went ahead and gave the 411 on what the cover details during his interview with MTV News.

“I used to stare at this world through a glass window and, like, two to three years later, I became king in that world.” Drake explained. “That’s who’s sitting on that album cover, that kid that’s just somehow gone from his mom’s basement in Toronto to becoming a king. That’s what the album cover is about and there is a lot of deep thought involved in that ‘cause you can go crazy doing this.”

Well, he got what he wanted. He now has ten number-one hits and is arguably the hottest rapper/r&B singer on the planet right now. Other than Rick Ross’s album — God Forgives, I Don’t — which is set to drop in December, this is the album that I’m highly anticipating. To me, J.Cole’s was a let down and didn’t surpass his mixtape, “Friday Night Lights.”

Cool video put together by Gneiss Pictures of J. Cole working hard in the studio to create the music, as to what we know now as Cole World: The Sideline Story. I think it’s a good idea for ALL artists, new or old, to have at least one camera candidly capturing studio time.

J. Cole releases a music video to his album’s bonus cut song Daddy’s Little Girl. Cole’s debut album Cole World: The Sideline Story is finally in stores and although it doesn’t quite live up to my expectations, it’s a solid first official retail offering and am glad a lot of his other fans are enjoying the project.

J. Cole’s Album Leaks Early, Literally

Every album leaks online early (except Watch The Throne) but rarely does the physical album “leak” early too. Watch as a fan hands J. Cole the physical copy of his new CD at a show earlier this week in Arizona. Just fast forward to the 1:16 mark and you’ll see how shocked Cole is as he states he doesn’t even have a copy yet. The story is supposedly a Target in the area got the release date confused and put the album out early but then immediately pulled them back to the stockroom but not before a few customers got to buy them. Do these sales still count for first week sales? Ha!

J.Cole Tried To Get Nas For “Cole World: The Sideline Story”

J.Cole – arguably the hottest up and coming rapper in the game right now – plans on releasing his first studio album labeled “Cole World: The Sideline Story” on September 27, which seems like it could become a trilogy type album within the next four or five years. As most know, Cole is signed to Roc Nation, which just so happens to be owned by Jay-Z, who finally gave Cole his wish and dropped the homie a verse on a track called “Mr. Gold Watch” which plans on dropping today. In a recent interview with Vibe Magazine, Cole also presented HOV with another track called “God’s Gift,” which Jay couldn’t do because of his schedule.

Since Cole couldn’t land the hip-hop King of Gotham City, he wanted to throw Nas on their last minute.

Yeah, I was trying to do a last minute Nas thing but I couldn’t. I didn’t have enough time, and then I laid a new verse on the slot I saved for Jay but I ended up not liking it. So I ended up keeping it two verses. It’s cool, it still worked out.”

Nas and Jay-Z had one of the greatest (behind Biggie and Pac) hip-hop rivalries of all-time. HOV was reportedly sleeping around with Nas’ girl and so they went back and forth with diss tracks where Nas dropped the best diss track ever produced called “Ether.” I don’t know about y’all, but I think it would have been dope if Cole could have landed Nas for this album. Unfortunately, at least this time around, we won’t  be able to witness such a thing. But who knows?

This is only the Sideline Story ..

We really need to get Young Simba in a studio and re-record these freestyles over Imma Boss and Otis because he killed it and we need that CDQ. The kid also had a listening party in New York City last night for his debut album Cole World: The Sideline Story and THU has a good recap of the event. The album drops September 27th so make sure you go and pick that up!
