Jay Bilas Reveals How He Became A Fan Of Jeezy’s Music
“Expect the unexpected” is one of my favorite quotes ever (shouts to Oscar Wilde), and that line goes perfectly with ESPN College GameDay analyst Jay Bilas (former Duke guard) and his love for rapper Jeezy’s music. First he took it to Twiiter: [sample: I'm goin' to Decatur where it's greater, see if I can stack me up some paper.], then he took it to a whole new level when he decided to quote a line from the track “Bottom of the Map” on national television during the Missouri-Villanova game. Like everything else in this world, something had to originate from something else and XXL Magazine found it:
XXL: Earlier this year, you surprised everyone when you went on a Twitter spree quoting Young Jeezy lyrics, what’s the story behind that?
Jay Bilas: This all kind of started when we were doing College GameDay earlier this year. We were at Michigan State and we had taken to doing player interviews the day of the game and we had Draymond Green on the floor with us. And I think it was Reece Davis who asked when you have your headphones on pre-game what are you listening to? He said, I listen to Jeezy. So, Hurbert Davis and I started joking. Hurbert asked if it was on my iPod and I said, Damn straight, it’s the first thing. I knew who Jeezy was but I wasn’t an avid listener. But I started listening and I liked it. I ended up getting a question on Twitter and someone asked me about my favorite rappers and I said Sugarhill Gang and Young Jeezy. I started listening to Sugarhill Gang when I was in high school. Then and now I knew all the words. It was a serious answer. And then someone said no way does Bilas know Young Jeezy. And I started quoting Thug Motivation [101] and it’s been fun. I enjoy the back and forth. It’s been neat banter on Twitter.
There you have it; thanks to Rece Davis, started this whole thing. He asked the question, Bilas gave the answer. I’m sure fans — along with myself — are looking forward to the next “Jeezy-bomb” Bilas drops on us. Who said only white boys attended Duke?

NEW YORK, N.Y. – April 7, 2011 – ESPN announced today its flagship network ESPN as well as ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPN3.com are now available to Time Warner Cable, Bright House Networks and Verizon FiOS TV subscribers via the new ‘WatchESPN’ App for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, now available on the App Store.
In time for the early rounds of the Masters, the NBA Playoffs and the beginning of the Major League Baseball season, Time Warner Cable, Bright House Networks and Verizon FiOS TV subscribers who receive the linear networks as part of their video subscription can now watch the channels from the convenience of their iPad, iPhone or iPod touch.
The free WatchESPN App includes a simple user interface that takes the current online viewing experience to the high-resolution, Multi-Touch displays of iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. A version of the application optimized for the Apple iPad will be available free to download in May.
The company first launched an online-accessible authenticated version of ESPN in October, 2010. Authenticated versions of ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPN Buzzer Beater/Goal Line launched in January, 2011. Consumers can access the channels through a centralized website, ESPNnetworks.com.
The WatchESPN App is available for free from the App Store on iPad or at www.itunes.com/appstore.
The App will be available on other smartphones and tablets in the near future.

DJ Steve Porter and ESPN’s Sportsnation just blessed the world with Press Hop 2 complete with cameos from LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Tiger Woods, Brett Favre, Ron Artest, Randy Moss, Allen Iverson, Deion Sanders, Mike Tyson, and more. This one was pretty funny but nothing DJ Steve Porter makes will EVER top the original Press Hop.
