Adidas Basketball’s star endorser Derrick Rose gets the mashup treatment over the infamous Michael Jordan “It’s Not About The Shoes” commercial.

Derrick Rose’ Shows Off New Ink

The reigning MVP and the supposed new “Michael Jordan Era” in Chicago, the Bulls Derrick Rose has taken the world by storm. The fans want more, the city wants more, but the only thing stopping them from seeing more Rose is the lockout. For those who already know, D-Rose has some tats. He’s not a J.R. Smith by any means but slowly, and surely, they’re starting to build up.

In his new Adidas commerical to promote his second shoe — the adiZero Rose 2 — Rose breaks off a Matador in what seems to be a Colosseum, and right when he busts through the red cape, there are his new shoulder tats in plain sight. Despite them being somewhat hidden beneath his sponsored beater, on the left side is says “19″ and the other says “88,” which is obviously his birth year. I don’t know about y’all, but I think it’s pretty dope. It’s a lot different than most tattoos and I don’t think any other player has those — or the room — yet.

What do you guys think?

Tim Donaghy Snitches On LeBron James’ Traveling Habits

May 30, 2011 by

This is kinda hilarious. Ex-NBA Referee Tim Donaghy has turned to YouTube to take revenge on the association that fired him for cheating and betting on games. Now that he’s jobless, he’s promoting some wack website and calling out Bron Bron for his traveling habits. Everyone knows that LeBron invented the crab dribble so traveling is just a part of his game. He does make a good point that no one mentioned the travel during that Chicago Bull’s game when it clearly was and everyone on Twitter blew up about it. It’s going to be interesting to see how Marc Cuban reacts to David Stern letting LeBron get away with those calls in the Finals. Game 1 – Dallas Mavericks @ Miami Heat goes down at 9 PM EST tomorrow night.

Video: Luol Deng Dunks On LeBron James

As Dwyane Wade would say, LeBron has been in Luol Deng’s position a million times. So hopefully he learned from the Jordan Crawford incident and accepts and comes to the realization that he’ll dunk on people 100 times a season but still might catch one or two dunks on his head as well. It happens to everyone who play’s basketball, if you play basketball on a high enough level where people can dunk. So to my defense, I’ve never been dunked on haha.

Video: Derrick Rose Dunks On Joel Anthony

The Chicago Bulls lost the game and are headed back to Chi-Town down 3-1 to the Miami Heat but Derrick Rose got some vicious dunks off last night. The one that stands out was his CRAM all over Joel Anthony’s head. A few seconds before that he showed his brute strength and speed by blowing past a defender for the continuation and-1 dunk. I don’t think the Bulls have enough fight in them to take this and win the series in seven games so until next year D-Rose…Enjoy fishing!

Kevin Durant & Udonis Haslem Go HAM On The Rim

Dwyane Wade (via Taj Gibson), Brendan Haywood (via Kevin Durant), and Keith Bogans & Derrick Rose (via Udonis Haslem) are all victims of being put on a poster so far in this NBA Conference Championships. The dunkers aren’t playing around this year…who’s getting it next?

Taj Gibson Dunks All Over The Miami Heat

May 15, 2011 by

Taj Gibson absolutely showed no remorse for the rim tonight as he had TWO monster dunks all over the Miami Heat in Game 1 of the 2011 Eastern Conference Finals. First up was a cram on Dwyane Wade and then the second was a sick putback to end the game. At least Wade manned up to the dunk on the post game presser:

“…A good one…but that’s a great ratio for me. 1st time I’ve been dunked on all year. I’ll take my 90-to-1 dunks..”

If Taj jammed on LeBron rather than Wade – does it really exist? Does all footage get confiscated right there in DunkGate Pt. 2? Anyways, the Bulls are up 1-0 and looked pretty dominate throughout most of that game. Game 2 is Wednesday night so let’s see how the Heat bounce back.

Derrick Rose Wins The MVP Award!

It’s what everyone anticipated and expected over the past couple of month and today the NBA and Kia made it official by presenting Chicago Bulls star Point Guard Derrick Rose with the 2010-11 KIA NBA Most Valuable Player award. Congrats to the young bull who becomes the youngest MVP award winner in the history of the league at 22 years old (shout outs to him and my other ’88 babies!). D Rose led the Bulls to the top of the standings in the East Coast with a 62-20 regular season record and are currently battling it out with the Atlanta Hawks right now in their quest to the a championship. Hopefully that ankle can hold up and Rose can continue to stunt on the court for a couple more weeks.  Check out this cool video Adidas Basketball made to celebrate his career achievement and then hit the jump to watch the kid’s enthusiastic monotone award accepting press conference.

The Official 2011 NBA Playoffs Schedule

April 16, 2011 by

40 games in 40 nights! Let’s get it! It’s NBA Playoffs time – 2011 version. This photo was surfacing around the office inbox’s and I actually thought it was funny even as a Celtics fan myself. What’s even funnier though is that these Knicks’ fans think they can actually hang with the Celtics. New York doesn’t play a lick of defense so it’ll be an easy series in 5 games, maybe 6 if we’re playing sloppy.

Derrick Rose and the Bulls will breeze through the Pacers, same with the Heat and the 76ers. The Magic will see some resistance from the Hawks but they’ll be okay too. After that though, there’s no calling it. All four teams are talented and I haven’t been this excited to see how everything plays out. There’s no clear cut front runner and every team could make a run to the championship.

On the west side (*throws up Avon Barksdale W*), I’m kinda shocked that the Nuggets have managed to do so well with out Melo and Billups and even with so many injuries in the beginning of the year. To come out of the west though I’m going to roll with young Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook to take their games to another level.  Playoffs START NOW!

Eastern Conference

(8) Indiana Pacers (37-45) vs. (1) Chicago Bulls (62-20)
(7) Philadelphia 76ers (41-41) vs. (2) Miami Heat (58-24)
(6) New York Knicks (42-40) vs. (3) Boston Celtics (56-26)
(5) Atlanta Hawks (44-38) vs. (4) Orlando Magic (52-30)

Western Conference

(8) Memphis Grizzlies (46-36) vs. (1) San Antonio Spurs (61-21)
(7) New Orleans Hornets (46-36) vs. (2) Los Angeles Lakers (57-25)
(6) Portland Trailblazers (48-34) vs. (3) Dallas Mavericks (57-25)
(5) Denver Nuggets (50-32) vs. (4) Oklahoma City Thunder (55-27)

Derrick Rose Shows The Knicks No Love

April 13, 2011 by

Always looking like he’s playing emotionless, Derrick Rose ended up showing the New York Knicks absolutely no love as he went for an easy 26 points including these two monster dunks. Sportscenter ranked them respectively #1 (above) and #2 (below) on today’s Top 10 but I think the alley-oop should have been #1. What do you think? As Twitter said last night, God DAMN Derrick Rose.
