These new innovative things SOUND real cool during launch but how long will they really last?! Remember when FaceTime got announced? Yeah, exactly. No one uses FaceTime but I wonder if people will actually continue to use Siri productively. Only time and iPhone 4S users will tell.

You speak. Siri helps. Say hello to the most amazing iPhone yet.

Say hello to Siri, your personal assistant for everything from getting the weather to reading a text.

Netflix Quickly Cancels Qwikster, Remains Netflix

Sorry for the confusion. About a month ago we posted that Netflix was re-branding their DVD rental services as a new company under the Netflix umbrella called Qwikster, complete with new logo, colorway, etc. Now last week, Netflix’s CEO Reed Hastings announced they will not go forth with Qwikster. Who cares why? Let’s just forget about the whole Qwikster announcement and pretend it never even happened. It was confusing enough…

Apple iOS5 x iPhone 4S Siri Review

Steve Jobs may have passed away but his innovation and his brilliant company, Apple, continues to live on through his spirit. As the iPhone 4S pre-orders continue to heat up this week, Apple released their new operating system dubbed iOS 5 yesterday. Lots of iPhone users were frustrated with slow downloading times to upgrade the software but once they got through they were blessed with a new Notification Center, Newsstand, Twitter, Camera, Photos, and the ability to sync via wireless. Check out a brief breakdown on each of the new features:

  • Notification Center – new email, texts, friend requests, and more all in one convenient location via one quick and easy swipe.
  • Newstand – organize your magazine and newspaper subscriptions in a folder that lets you access your favorite publications quickly and easily.
  • Twitter – Apple’s new Twitter app. I still prefer Echofon. But I’m not taking UberSocial out of the running as they just created an iPhone app (they’re the creators of the great UberTwitter for Blackberry).
  • Camera – open the Camera app right from the Lock screen. Use grid lines, pinch-to-zoom gestures, and single-tap focus and exposure locks to compose a picture on the fly. Then press the volume-up button to snap your photo in the nick of time.
  • Photos – Crop, rotate, enhance, and remove red-eye without leaving the Photos app.
  • Wireless Sync – exactly what it says it does. No more USB cords…

Moving on to the iPhone 4S, one of the main new selling points was the new feature called Siri. Many people are still left out on what Siri exactly is so check this video out to learn more.

Apple Announces The iPhone 4S, Not The iPhone 5

A lot of Apple heads are disappointed that today’s Apple Press Conference didn’t announce the iPhone 5 but rather the iPhone 4S. Although we’re not getting a completely new phone, the 4S is a nice upgrade from the already amazing 4 but enhanced with a bunch of new tech specs such as:

  • New A5 dual core processor which boasts 2x the speeds
  • 7x the graphics processing thanks to a dual core graphics chip
  • Video capabilities of the phone will include full 1080p HD recording with image stabilization and noise reduction
  • Creation of Siri, a sentient and intelligent personal software assistant

The 4S will also run on iOS 5 which will be available to all other Apple users for downloadable upgrade on October 12th. Pre-orders for the 4S begin on October 7th and the release will be on October 14th.

Watch Mark Zuckerberg Explain The New Facebook Changes

All you Facebookers would have noticed that Facebook made some “drastic” changes to their interface and layout a couple of days ago. A lot of people “hate” and “can’t stand” the new changes but I’m cool with it. For people like me who barely even notice any “drastic” changes will need to watch Mark Zuckerberg explain them all in his recent Keynote Address.

All you Netflix subscribers aren’t going to like this. Besides from their already new pricing plans and subscriptions, Netflix is dubbing Qwikster their new DVD rental service program. They decided that in order to stay up to date and successful with the changing times, they need to have a heavier presence in the streaming services and “Netflix” will solely focus on that. To accommodate their more traditional physical DVD renters, “Qwikster” will be the new service that will continue to do the in home mailing of rentals. To up their offerings, they will also now include videogames which subscribers have frequently asked for.
