Kemba Walker & Under Armour Asks “Are You From Here?”

The Under Armour x Brandon Jennings “Are You From Here?” video (can be watched after the jump) seemed a little to scripted for me but for some reason this Kemba Walker version really impresses me. Not sure if it’s maybe because I’m a New Yorker now or what but props to Under Armour and their agency for making the Kemba video a good one. Now that #NBABACK, Kemba is one of the players I’m excited to see make the transition (and how he fares) from college superstar to _____ NBA player.

Floyd Mayweather Wants A May 5th Fight vs Manny Pacquiao!

In an exclusive video with FightHype (smh @ it being so exclusive they’ve blocked all embedding of their video), Floyd Mayweather has CALLED OUT Manny Pacquiao to sign the contract and commit to a fight on May 5th. Obviously, The Money Team wants Pacman to take the drug test and I’m sure vice versa for Pacman’s crew as well. I got into boxing about a year, maybe two years ago pretty much when all the Pacman vs Mayweather drama started to stir up and as a amateur boxing fan, I can speak on the behalf of EVERYONE, that this fight NEEDS to happen! Sign the contract!

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Has The Dunk of The Year That No One Saw

On a Saturday night where people were still partying and enjoying their Thanksgiving long weekend, or recovering from their food itis, or even in shock that UNLV upset #1 UNC – Michael Kidd-Gilchrist had the dunk of the year that practically no one saw when Kentucky squared off against Portland. This UK team has TONS of talent (check that Anthony Davis alley-oop right before the big Kidd-Gilchrist slam) and it’s going to be interesting to see how they put it all together over the course of the season.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie Campaigns For Legal Sports Betting

November 27, 2011 by

Governor Chris Christie discussed the legalization of sports betting in New Jersey this past Wednesday at the University of Deleware’s Center for Political Communication.  The Governor expressed his support for legal sports betting and also stated that once the state legislature gives the ok on sports betting, they must file a lawsuit in federal court to get the authority to do so.

Gov. Christie gave a prime example of how common sports betting is when he relayed a story about a fan that came up to him in a recent game talking about how that while their team won, they didn’t cover the spread.

He further went on to express how that in the places where sports betting is not legal, criminals are running many betting operations and are the primary ones benefiting from it.  Christie proposed making it a legal activity and having the government regulate it.

Also, Christie addressed how that the NFL and other sports leagues are worried about sports gambling becoming “nefarious” if it was legalized.  As he pointed out, it seems that with criminals running many sports betting operations in many states, it would be less nefarious if the government ran it.

The points made by Gov. Christie are all fantastic points, and one point that he did not bring up is the potential income that can be brought into New Jersey if they are able to get sports gambling legalized.  In addition, if the state at some point gives the casino online gaming rights, that would give fans all over the state the chance to bet on the NFL and other sports.

The NFL and other anti-gambling activists need to realize that gambling on sports is an activity that is occurring nationwide and on a weekly basis.  Whether they are betting on games or on fantasy teams, football is being regularly wagered upon.  It is time to have the government step up and regulate the industry.  The NFL can police their own players and quit worrying about whether “Joe Sixpack” wagers $5 on the Cardinals game this weekend.

Bills’ Fred Jackson Done For The Year?

November 23, 2011 by

Fred Jackson started this season off with a bang. He dusted the Raiders and Chiefs for a combined 229 yards and two scores to start the season off and manhandled the Eagles and Giants pass-rush just two weeks later (111 yards, 1 TD against the Eagles; 121 yards, 1 TD against the Giants). He scored a total of 6 touchdowns through the first seven games of the year before going on a four-game hiatus without scoring the football. Now, as the Bills struggle with injuries and are currently riding a three-game losing streak, things just got worse as they face the Jets for the second time this season.

ESPN is reporting that Jackson won't be playing this Sunday on the road due to the right calf injury he sustained over the weekend against Miami. The dolphins held 22-Gun-Salute to 17 yards on seven carries before leaving the game. The worst part of it all is that the Bills' coaching staff aren't sure if Jackson will even play again during the regular season. Is it me, or have all the best players this year gotten injured?

Just to name a few:

Jamaal Charles, Eric Berry, Andre Johnson, Peyton Manning, Darren McFadden, Kerry Rhodes, Leon Hall, Jon Beason, Matt Schaub, Matt Cassell, Nick Collins, Mario Williams, Chad Henne, Bob Sanders, Marcus Trufant

That's not even half the list, but that's a lot of big names who mean a lot to their team.

NCAA Rumor: Urban Meyer To Ohio State?

November 23, 2011 by

You know, when I first heard this, my jaw dropped to the floor. As a born Gator’ fan, I’ve had the privilege to watch my team beat Ohio State — twice — in every championship game they’ve gone up against each other. I’ve never liked their school. I always thought they were a bunch of cheaters and after the whole Jim Tressell scandal, turns out I was right. People can say what they want about Urban; “Oh, he let his players get away with everything” and whatnot, but the guy was a winner at every school he coached. He turned Utah into a powerhouse with the Spread Offense and made now 49ers quarterback Alex Smith look like Peyton Manning. And he did the same thing during his five years (2005-2010) at Florida. He helped turn Tim Tebow into a public icon while Tim proved he was the King of the Spread and brought home two national championships in a three-year span.

After Meyer resigned due to health issues and wanting to spend more time with his family, it took about 6 months before rumors — although they’re probably the truth — starting swirling around. Announced today on WKMG-TV in Orlando, sources reportedly told the radio station that Meyer recently signed a 7-year, $40 million deal to become the newest head coach at Ohio State (I won’t lie, I was calling everyone that I thought had inside word on the situation, unfortunately none did). Not too long after the announcement, ESPN came out with reports via Meyer’s agent, that the rumors were false.

Words from Meyer himself:

“I have not been offered any job nor is there a deal in place,” Meyer said in a statement. “I plan on spending Thanksgiving with my family and will not comment on this any further.”

That right there makes me believe he will be the new head coach at the school once Thanksgiving weekend passes. Although I won’t like it, it makes perfect sense. He’s from the state of Ohio, he graduated from — and was  — an assistant at Ohio State and has made it more than clear that he’s a fan of the Big 10. As for OSU, it makes perfect sense. They get a still, rather young coach who has two rings on his finger and will be able to generate a lot of recruits and produce a lot of NFL talent in the long run. But just because I believe it’s true, doesn’t mean it is. Especially after reading his interview on Monday with the Gainesville Sun.

“The concerns are still there,” Meyer told the paper. “No. 1: My health. No. 2: My family. No. 3: The state of college football. I’ve done some research into the second one. I’ve found that it is possible to have balance between your job and your family, that there are coaches out there who are doing it. I’m in a good place right now mentally and physically. So if something happens with Ohio State, I’ll have a decision to make. But there has been no interview. There has been no offer to make a decision about.”

“If there is a decision to be made concerning Ohio State, there will be a lot that will go into it. But right now, there is no decision to be made. I love football. It’s what I am. I miss it.”

Please, try and convince me that Ohio State fans — and recruits — aren’t praying and walking everywhere with their fingers cross that this happens. It’s not easy to revive a tarnished school, but if there’s one guy who can make people forget about it for the time being; it’s Urban Meyer.
