Video: Iman Shumpert Injures Left Knee Against Miami

I’m not sure what’s going on during these playoff games but, it’s certainly not good. First the Bulls more than likely lost Derrick Rose for the rest of the playoffs after he suffered a left knee injury during their win over the 76ers. And just two hours later, Knicks rookie Iman Shumpert suffered the exact same injury and is also more than likely to be done for the rest of the playoffs. Hopefully no one else ends up getting hurt.

The worst injuries are the one’s where there is no contact, and that’s exactly what happened to Derrick Rose during Chicago’s victory over the Philadelphia 76ers. Up 99-87 with 1:30 left in the fourth quarter – don’t know why he was still in the game – Rose did his little “hop-along” crossover move and his left knee gave-way after the landing and collapsed in midair. There’s still no word on what exactly happened but, according to various Twitter accounts, the former MVP is heading the hospital for an MRI.

Serious question: How many of you actually pay attention to what a point guard does once his team wins the opening tip-off battle? Probably none. Lucky for us, – thanks to Deadspin for finding this – there’s a die hard Celtics fan out there who put together a 4-minute video of Rajon Rondo’s tip-off antics. The crazy thing is, he never does the same thing twice. Either I’m bored, or this is just a remarkable find. Enjoy!

What could be more heart-wrenching than officially being the worst team in NBA history? How about when your supposed “shot-blocker” and “future All-Star” in Tyrus Thomas, gets a ball in the face from Amar’e?

The wait is finally over. Just announced today, Pro-Bowl wide receiver Calvin Johnson – aka Megatron – will be the face of the upcoming Madden ’13 cover. In 16 games last season for the Lions, Johnson amassed 96 receptions for 1,681 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns. It really doesn’t seem like he’s been in the league since ’07, has it?

Music Video: Steve Francis – Finer Things

Steve “Franchise” Francis was one of my favorite basketball players ever. Sadly, his NBA career fell apart after he left Houston – and chose to follow Cuttino Mobley – and he was never the same again. Many of us wondered whatever happened to him and/or what he’s doing now; and I found out exactly that on World Star this morning… just terrible

Video: Cristiano Ronaldo Proves He’s Still The Best

The only reason I pay attention to soccer – or even watch it for that matter – is because of Cristiano Ronaldo. I’ve watch the kid play since Day 1 and I have yet to see anyone in the sport with better footwork and scoring abilities from anywhere on the field. Watch as he hits his 42nd goal (ridiculous!) of the season (and game-winner) against Barcelona. But the best part is how he tells the crowd to just hush a little bit.

ESPN’s “Michael Jordan” Commercial

Great commercial produced by the Weiden + Kennedy team. I wonder how many other “Michael Jordan”s there are in the world and what they look like and what their lives must be like.

Derrick Rose isn’t exactly having a season that he was hoping to have (given all his injuries), but he’s still putting up MVP-like numbers (22.5 points and 7.9 assists) despite only playing in 37 games. Just announced today via NBCChicago.com, Rose became the first Chicago Bull to grace the cover of GQ Magazine since Michael Jordan (who made his appearance back in ’89). With the issue set to grace newsstands everywhere next week, you can preview some of the article after the jump that features quotes from Rose on Michael Jordan, LeBron James’ decision and President Barack Obama.
