Rick Ross Covers October’s Issue Of XXL Alongside His Maybach Music Team
Call him a Police Officer, call him fake, hell, call him whatever you want to call him, but at least respect him. The Florida-born rapper, Rick Ross, blew up the hip-hop scene back in 2006 when his highly anticipated album “Port of Miami” took the world by storm. After releasing his second album “Trilla” back in ’08, a photo surfaced of the big-bellied rude boy in a Correctional Officer’s uniform (he denied it was him at first) in which he worked as during the early 90′s. Many thought that would end his career, but it might have been the best thing to happen to him.
After becoming arguably the hottest rapper in the game right now (easily my favorite rapper of all-time), how does one outdo himself? He goes out and starts his own team. Maybach Music Group, which features artists Wale (formerly with Interscope), Atlanta Trap Rapper Pill and Philadelphia street rider Meek Mill, not only have they taken the hip-hop game by storm during the second half of the year, they’re probably the best and most versatile group in rap. Lets not forget that he already has his “Go Hard” group Triple C’s (Gunplay, Torch and Young Breed). As the saying goes, give respect when it’s do. Hip-Hop magazine XXL decided to make a two issue series, one featuring The Boss by himself and the other featuring the whole crew. Like I said, whether you like him or not he’s here to stay.
“I’m self-made, you just affiliated.”
Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter IV” Album Sold 964,000 In It’s First Week!
September 7, 2011 by The Scheme King

According to BillBoard, Lil’ Wayne’s Tha Carter IV album has sold 964,000 records in it’s first leak! That number is pretty incredible considering that Ye-Z’s Watch The Throne joint only did around 350,000 AND they prevented their album from leaking. Weezy’s album leaked and sold nearly 3x as much as WTT. Musically, WTT > C4 but Wayne does have the teen and pop demographics that went out and downloaded or bought physical copies of the CD. While Wayne is celebrating, Birdman is at Best Buy buying up the rest of the C4 albums to reach a million, and Young Money CEO Mack Maine is sending subliminal tweet disses over to the real Mr. Carter.

436,078 people bought the digital or physical version of Watch The Throne in the first week. A million in 3 weeks is easily doable for Mr. Jay-Z and Kanye West. Did you Watch? I did and it’s great! Not classic but a solid 4 out of 5 stars.

Drake’s “Take Care” Album Will Come Out On 10/24

Drake’s sophomore album Take Care will release on October 24th according to his “encrypted” Twitter post. A single should be out in the coming weeks and if it’s on anywhere close to the level as Marvin’s Room or Dreams Money Can Buy, he should be good money.
Is Spotify Going To Take Over The Music World?
July 14, 2011 by The Scheme King

Supposedly Spotify is THE music service in Europe and is making it’s way over to the United States. I’m not sure of all the logistics of how Spotify is providing the music but their whole concept is for consumers to play free music (all artists, all songs) that are accessible through any medium at anytime. Who has an invite for me? I’ll trade you a Google+ invite.
The award-winning music service that’s taken Europe by storm has landed on US shores. Millions of tracks ready to play instantly, on your computer and your phone.
Any track, any time, anywhere. And it’s free!

This is pretty cool. Check out this video case study of the marketing campaign that was ran for Jay-Z’s Decoded book release in partnership with Bing. I wonder which agency managed this?
