Photos: Nike LeBron 9 & Kobe VII Elite Series

With the NBA Playoffs right around the corner, Nike Basketball is unveiling their “Elite” Playoff Series of sneakers for their breadwinners Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. Both players get a special Elite series colorway in Black / Gold for away games and White / Gold for their home games. While both models have the same design, new materials have been added to the current build, including: updated Flywire made with Kevlar aramid, carbon fiber midffot support shanks that extend from the heel to the wings, and Nike Pro Combat inspired padded collar protection. Video: People Already Waiting In Line For The Yeezy 2′s

Beverly Center Mall, Los Angeles, CA: “Sneakerheads” already in line for the Nike Air Yeezy 2′s that have a release date of April 13th. The people in this video said they’ve been “camping out” since February 29th. That’s going to be a total of nearly 7, yes, SEVEN weeks of waiting in that line to get these shoes…Between the Galaxy Foam release and the Yeezy 2′s, this sneaker hype is starting to get a little out of control. When / how will it stop?

Baylor Reveals New March Madness Uniforms

Wow! How dope are these? It looks like Baylor University is getting their Oregon on as they get ready to battle it out in the March Madness tournament. BaylorBears.com revealed their new adizero basketball uniforms earlier today, complete with a description of the new ‘fit:

The new adizero uniforms feature a limited edition design and coloring created only for this season’s NCAA tournament run. Each uniform’s amplified school colors pay homage to the high intensity of March Madness and the electrifying play during the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship.

The new print uses a pixilated pattern instead of a traditional, heavier, solid pattern to shed weight and add speed. The print’s camouflage design is inspired by teamwork and working together to attack the court as a group.

The adidas adizero basketball uniform is the lightest uniform in program history – more than 20 percent lighter than previous uniforms. The uniforms are adidas’ latest innovation to make athletes lighter so they can be faster and perform better on the court.

The site also states that Louisville and Cincinnati will also be wearing similar uniforms, just a different colorway, of course. These lighter unis should help players play a bit quicker and give them more energy. I guess we’ll find out in a couple weeks. Peep after the jump for a bigger version of the full uniforms.

Nike Gives The Kobe VII’s The Invisibility Cloak

Kobe Bryant is not enrolling in the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft with Harry Potter BUT he is getting one of the young wizard’s Invisibility Cloaks. This new colorway of the VII (7′s) is a mix of deep purple with a shade of turquoise blue and depending on the angle that your looking, the sneaker will reflect a different light – hence the invisibility. This is the first time I’m seeing of this new colorway and it’s being a pretty sudden release with little to no pre-heat as they’re releasing this Saturday February 18th at select House of Hoops by Foot Locker.
