This weeks throwback is a tribute to Jigga’s newest project Watch The Throne with Kanye, which is the best  rap album since Em’s Relapse.  Even though this track, titled Coming Of Age, is Jay with Memphis Bleek, I think Jigga was hoping Bleek would become the protege that gained the success Kanye has (Ok, he got ONE thing wrong in the biz).  I always really digged Bleek’s music, but I was definitely in the minority on that one.  When his projects wasn’t getting any love on the streets or radio, Bleek tried to become more mainstream and instantly lost me and eventually Jigga.  But he can always say he was on one of the best rap albums ever: Reasonable Doubt.

In honor of the Scheme King’s birthday today, I am putting 50′s first single In Da Club.  It is the only good rap song I could think of that has some sort birthday theme (Go shawty, it’s your birthday).  Even though he isn’t a shawty (pause), it’s better than Birthday Sex.  So, happy birthday Scheme King, and everyone enjoy this classic from 2002.

This looks like it could be very interesting, or it could be a PR move by Marshall’s team to give an explanation for all the trouble he has gotten into lately.  Either way, I will watch, and if it is genuine I give Marshall a lot of credit because in the Alpha Dog sport of football, it is not easy to come out and say “I have a mental disorder”.  In the film, doctors from Harvard diagnose Marshall with BDP, or Borderline Personality Disorder, and try to help him cope with and understand the disorder.  No word on when this is being released, but we will keep you posted.

For this week’s Throwback Saturday Sunday, I am posting up one of my favorite G-Unit freestyles during, IMO, their heyday.  This features the whole squad (50, Banks, and Yayo) going in over Dre’s Deep Cover beat.  To be honest, it really should be say they go over Big Pun and Fat Joe’s Twinz beat, but most people recognize this from Dre and Snoop’s track.  Either way, enjoy!

Even though Young Jeezy’s Go Getta is not a throwback (it was released in 2007), I picked it since the remix has throwback artists but the main reason, it is Derek Jeter’s entrance music for when he comes to the plate.  If you haven’t heard, Jeter got his 3,000 hit today against David Price of the Tampa Bay Rays.  Growing up as a Yankee fan, Jeter is by far my favorite player and he definitely is a Go Getta.  Playing during the “Steriod Era” Jeter is one the few players who you can say without a doubt did everything naturally and is the definition of a hard worker.  Congrats to Derek Jeter aka El Capitán!

With schools across the country out (except for you slackers who have to go to summer school) and the official start of summer this past week, what better throwback to post than the Leaders of the New School hit Case of the P.T.A.  This song was released back in 1991 while Busta was sill apart of the group. This was their most successful mainstream hit but, unfortunately, once Busta left the group they were unable to build off this tracks success.  Many people contribute the groups split-up to an infamous Yo! MTV Raps interview where group member Charlie Brown became upset over Busta’s show stealing and became quite vocal about it while being filmed.  Busta was just at the beginning of his successful (and still current) career, while Charlie Brown, Dinco D, and Milo gained very little individual success.

The Dipset Sqad came together to remix Cam’s track Get Em Daddy. This song is Cam in a nut shell, just cocky as can be.  One line everyone took from this track: Don’t watch me, watch TV. There is actually 2 remixes to this song, this one and then another one they actually made a music video for where Cam does the first verse.  This one is better.

Track #19 from The Slim Shady LP. This was way before they went to Hell, Eminem and Royce Da 5’9 were just two young emcees coming out of Detroit. The new collaboration album between the two comes out on the 13th.
