I was a huge fan of DeRozan’s coming out of USC and I’m an even bigger once since he’s entered the league. With what seemed to be a never ending lockout, most of the league’s young players decided to stay outside and away from trouble this summer by forming their own pickup games around various cities and some of the world’s most famous blacktops. The Raptors “Young One” decided to do the same. Now entering his Junior season, he’s poised to finally have that breakout season post his semi-breakout season. With the lockout over and the NBA resuming on Dec. 25, check out a glimpse of what’s to be seen this season from the Future of Toronto.
Easily the most colorful player in the NBA, Denver Nuggets shot-blocker and energy provider Chris “Birdman” Andersen became the recent addition to PETA’S “Ink, Not Mink” campaign, which has featured other ballplayers such as Amar’e Stoudemire and Gilbert Arenas. Checkout Bird’s spot below for a behind-the-scenes look at his photo shoot and what really goes on in at some of China’s fur farms.
Common is easily like my No. 2 favorite artist ever. Seriously. Dude is so ill on his rhymes and yet somehow he remains underrated as an artist in my opinion. With his new album “The Dream/The Believer” due at the end of the month (Dec. 20), Common Sense decided to pay homage to his lifelong homie Nas by dropping flame on his track “Life’s A Bitch.” I bet folks didn’t know he listened to Illmatic like that, huh? Ha.

The Under Armour x Brandon Jennings “Are You From Here?” video (can be watched after the jump) seemed a little to scripted for me but for some reason this Kemba Walker version really impresses me. Not sure if it’s maybe because I’m a New Yorker now or what but props to Under Armour and their agency for making the Kemba video a good one. Now that #NBABACK, Kemba is one of the players I’m excited to see make the transition (and how he fares) from college superstar to _____ NBA player.
I find these low budget Killa Cam music videos pretty entertaining. Hopefully Killa Season 2 is still on it’s way (the greatest low budget full feature length film ever!) and then Cam’Ron’s Boss of All Bosses project is out in December. Bang Bang!

In an exclusive video with FightHype (smh @ it being so exclusive they’ve blocked all embedding of their video), Floyd Mayweather has CALLED OUT Manny Pacquiao to sign the contract and commit to a fight on May 5th. Obviously, The Money Team wants Pacman to take the drug test and I’m sure vice versa for Pacman’s crew as well. I got into boxing about a year, maybe two years ago pretty much when all the Pacman vs Mayweather drama started to stir up and as a amateur boxing fan, I can speak on the behalf of EVERYONE, that this fight NEEDS to happen! Sign the contract!
I guess this song was off of Wale’s The Eleven One Eleven Theory mixtape (never gave it a listen) but the music video actually did a good job of bringing the song to life. And that’s exactly what a music video should do, a good music video should elevate the song. Kudos to Wale for all the good sports references. I’m not the biggest fan of his music but he does know sports and kicks, which I can appreciate.
On a Saturday night where people were still partying and enjoying their Thanksgiving long weekend, or recovering from their food itis, or even in shock that UNLV upset #1 UNC – Michael Kidd-Gilchrist had the dunk of the year that practically no one saw when Kentucky squared off against Portland. This UK team has TONS of talent (check that Anthony Davis alley-oop right before the big Kidd-Gilchrist slam) and it’s going to be interesting to see how they put it all together over the course of the season.
