It was only a matter of time before Apple announced / released this:
Apple is expected to launch its highly-anticipated touchscreen Tablet by early 2010 and new information suggests the gadget could revolutionize print publishing by bringing book, newspaper, and magazine content onto the high-tech reader.
If Apple succeeds, the Tablet could essentially function as an iPod for text: a “print player” that displays textbooks, magazines, newspapers, and more (and which would pose a significant competitive threat to Amazon).
Apple has been negotiating with major print media companies to acquire content for the new device, Gizmodo reports, including the New York Times, McGraw Hill, and Oberlin Press. In addition, Apple seems to be working to beef up print content on its iTunes store.

RIP DJ AM – His death is being ruled an accidental drug overdose as he mixed coke with a whole doctor’s cabinet full of pills on that tragic evening. Take a lesson from DJ AM or me, those pills are fun until they hurt you physically and emotionally or eventually lead to your death. This news is courtesy of The NY Times:
The New York medical examiner’s office ruled on Tuesday that the disc jockey Adam Goldstein, better known by his stage name, DJ AM, died from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs and cocaine, The Associated Press reported. Mr. Goldstein, a fixture of the Los Angeles club scene and the celebrity party circuit, was found dead in his Manhattan apartment on Aug. 28. At that time, police discovered him face-down in his bed wearing only sweatpants, with a crack pipe and prescription drugs nearby. The medical examiner’s toxicology report said that Mr. Goldstein had ingested OxyContin, Hydrocodone or Vicodin, Xanax, Ativan, Klonopin, Benadryl and Levamisole before his death, according to The A.P. Mr. Goldstein had said in interviews in recent years that he abused cocaine and crack in his 20s but had since cleaned up, and recently taped a reality series for MTV called “Gone Too Far,” in which he helped set up interventions for drug abusers. MTV has not yet said whether it will broadcast the series.
